Speed run of Resident Evil 4, European version, on normal mode using special weapons in 21 segments, completed on December 12 2005. Only available in low quality.

Hi, this is my first actual speedrun here and my third attempt speedrunning this game. The first one was total crap. After couple of months, I picked this game up again, and finished with a 1:54:15. I was going to submit that run, but after thinking for a second, I decided that the run was crap again. So I immediately started working on a new one. This time I got the 1:51:03.

First of all, I want to thank Radix for hosting my run and thank torao and pota for their awesome runs. Without their runs I wouldn't have done this one. I really hated to save two times more than you're supposed to. But I hate Del Lago, chapter 3-1 and I wanted to finish this run before 2007. I probably lost 10 seconds with those two saves, but I gained a lot aswell, especially in the Del Lago fight. Here's some general stuff:

- I believe that Leon runs faster with a grenade, special/normal rocket launcher or without a weapon.
- Carrying the infinite rocket launcher is the same as having yellow health.
- Leon is immune to damage when he is doing some action command (OPEN, JUMP OVER etc.)
- Everything else I can't remember right now.

Chapter 1-1:

Nothing special here. I pick the normal costumes, I'm a bit slow skipping two cutscenes and I'm slow changing my CT to a hand grenade. I also could have thrown the grenade a bit faster in the end.

Chapter 1-2:

I really dunno which route is faster but atleast my route is not as random as the other one. (but I think my route is faster anyway :P) I could have lured the ganados beside the second half of the emblem when I first ran to get it, but I forgot :D. I also had to dodge the ganado near the end, It's almost impossible to run straight thru him and when you add up all the other random elements earlier, you don't wanna get hit here.

Chapter 1-3:

Like I said before, I hate to save here but I hate Del Lago. Anyways, everything before Del Lago is perfect or atleast I want to believe so :P. My Del Lago fight is one throw faster than in torao's 1:58 new game run. I think you could still do a one throw faster than I did, but you'd really have to turn your boat "right" after Del Lago turns around the second time, so that you could hit her 3 times instead of 2 before she dives again. But pulling that one off is another story.

Chapter 2-1:

Nothing special here, I change to a flash grenade after killing El Gigante, because there is a long running session ahead and I use one in 2-2.

Chapter 2-3:

I use the Handcannon to open those two wooden doors and I kill Mendez with Handcannon aswell. The elevator thingy with Handcannon was a pain in the ass.

Chapter 3-1:

I hate this chapter and I seriously suck aswell. I let Ashley get grabbed on purpose because I wanted to use the crank after I killed some enemies. The walking routes of the 3 monks in the sword room are fixed, so that I have to kill them, it wastes couple of seconds but what can you do.

Chapter 3-2:

Nothing really special here, apart from my obvious madskills, ultimate actions per minute and flawless route in the menu/case/whatever. And I could have shot the Red Monk with the Gallery Key a bit closer to me.

Chapter 3-4:

I could have freed Ashley couple of seconds faster.

Chapter 4-1:

I dunno what I was thinking about when I was pushing those statues around :D. (I didn't turn around using down+b) A little menu screw up after I lower the bridge. And a nice blooper with the two garradors ;). I was just happy to get this chapter over with, 13-minute calls with mr. randomness aint that nice :(.

Chapter 4-3:

I found out a funny thing in this chapter, if you get hit by that ganado before the ladder, the woman with the kitchen knife acts veeery slow. If you don't, the knife woman will hit you almost 100%.

Chapter 4-4:

This is my worst chapter by far. Can't really find a way to play this one with routine :p.

Chapter 5-1:

I get my ass handed in the beginning but everything else goes just fine, so I decided to keep this segment. Thanks atwyatt for the garage door trick!

Chapter 5-2:

This is one the more polished chapters in my run. Mostly because I screwed up atleast 20 times in that high security door puzzle :D.

Chapter 5-3:

This is seriously the best chapter in my run. I would loove this chapter because there is almost no randomness at all but... BEEN A LONG TIME, KOMRAD? I somehow got hit by an arrow and screw up a little when pushing the statue.

Chapter 5-4:

Ok, this is the randomness to the max. But to get the randomness co-operate... like getting Mike blow up the right gatling gun tower so I can jump down. well, I tried and tried but couldn't do any better. And when it doesn't depend on you, it's kinda frustrating. I accidentally pop up menu again in the end.

Chapter 6-1:

I skipped the final stats by an accident but I couldn't get xx:xx:03 anymore when I tried again, wonder why.
